In this section, we will provide information about the following:

  1. Completing the final evaluation of your student teacher
  2. Discussing the final evaluation with your student teacher
  3. Other evaluation methods throughout the semester
Completing the final evaluation of your student teacher
  • The final evaluation is done at the end of the semester.
  • It is found in the handbook.
  • You will fill this out during their final two weeks of student teaching.
Discussing the final evaluation with your student teacher
  • You can share your evaluation with them if you like or you can hand it directly to the supervisor if you would rather do so.
  • If you would prefer not to share the actual evaluation with your student teacher, PLEASE have a final conference with your student teacher anyway, highlighting strengths and weaknesses.
  • Ask student teacher to share his/her self evaluation with you when you share your evaluation of him/her to see if you are both on the same page.
Other evaluation methods throughout the semester

If you look at the sequence of repsonsiblities in the Appendix of the handbook, you will see the manner in which the semester is broken down. It would be helpful if, at each new responsibility, you sat down with your student teacher and gave him/her feedback on what s/he has accomplished so s/he knows what is expected of him/her from you.
