MCCC will host two virtual events beginning Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. During each open house, students will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of event programming, panels and presentations; learn about flexible programs; discover affordable ways to pay for college; ask questions during live Q&A breakout rooms with faculty and staff and much more.

The events are free and open to the public, but registration is required for each day. For registration information, or to RSVP for the Oct. 20 and Oct. 24 events, visit the event's registration page.

“As a community college, we hold true to the mission of providing access,” said Michael Harcum, Associate Director of Admissions and Dual Enrollment. “We provide access regardless of atmosphere, whether it’s a physical or virtual space. We are committed to ensuring that all students receive what they need to be successful through intentional design of the college experience.”

Scheduled programming and presentations will take place in the Montco Momentum Community Room for the entire two-hour virtual event each day (Getting to Know Montco & Academic Experience Overview, Paying for College, Support Services, and more) and the Q&A breakout sessions. In these breakout rooms, students, families and community members will have the opportunity to talk one-one-one with student support departments, academic divisions, athletics and more.

“We’ll be operating in a virtual space but we want students to know we are still here to serve them,” said Brie Kulp, Coordinator of Admissions and Dual Enrollment. “They’ll still be able to meet and speak with faculty virtually and members of different departments who will be able to answer their questions.”

New for the fall events will include a greater emphasis on live content for open house attendees, said Kulp.

“We’ve added a presentation from the president and various departments that students can participate in the entire time,” she said. “They can still take time to go into breakout rooms, if they’d like. However, if they are more interested, there will be live programming for the whole two hours.”

“We’ve made this one more innovative,” said Harcum. “We’re including a presentation for adult learners. There will be more opportunities to interact with a greater number of services.”

Other programs that will be highlighted during the Open House events include Montco Connect, a new platform that provides student engagement opportunities like student government and various clubs; dual enrollment, for students who would like take college level courses in high school; and free virtual support services including Talk Space, which provides online therapy for students; and 24/7 tutoring services.

“With more people learning from home, the support is there for tutoring,” said Harcum. “In addition, the College is among the top 10 schools in Pennsylvania in online course delivery and we’ve been doing it for over 20 years. Lastly, we’ve frozen tuition for the fourth year in a row. That’s just a snippet of what you’ll be able to see and learn during our two events.”
