Montgomery County Community College is proud to announce that Matthew Falcone, 36, of Green Lane, is one of only 50 students nationwide to be named a 2020 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Academic Team program, and selects students based on their high academic achievement, leadership and engagement in college and community service. As a Silver Scholar, Falcone will receive a $1,250 scholarship and a commemorative medallion.
Like many of MCCC’s students, Falcone balances work, school and other responsibilities as he earns his associate’s degree in physical science at MCCC’s West Campus in Pottstown. In addition to working full time, he serves as a mentor to people in recovery. When Falcone graduates in May, he plans to pursue his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology Management. He also is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
“The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has a long history of providing financial assistance to outstanding students at community colleges,” said Jane Hale Hopkins, President of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and make it possible for deserving students to achieve their educational goals.”
Coca-Cola Academic Team members will be recognized in both local and statewide ceremonies and will also be recognized internationally during Phi Theta Kappa’s virtual annual convention, PTK Catalyst, April 2-4.
Phi Theta Kappa recognizes the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helps them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 11 nations, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation’s colleges. Learn more at ptk.org.
