
Nine student-athletes from Montgomery County Community College were selected for the Fall Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference All-Conference teams.
Nine student-athletes from Montgomery County Community College were selected for the Fall Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) All-Conference teams. Student-athletes from MCCC’s Women’s Soccer team, Men’s Soccer team and Women’s Volleyball team were nominated and chosen by other coaches in the conference to be honored among the top athletes.
From the Women’s Soccer team, midfielder Nicole Hastings of Blue Bell, midfielder
Abigail Nice of Hatfield, and defender Dre Meyers of Oreland received First Team All-Conference
Honors. Freshmen Hastings, Nice, and Meyers helped the Mustangs raise their win record
from last year by four games this season. Together, the trio recorded 25 goals for
the Mustangs.
Hastings, a Liberal Studies major, played soccer at Wissahickon High School before
coming to MCCC. She led the Mustangs with 10 goals scored and two assists. Nice, a
Culinary Arts major who attended high school at Dock Mennonite Academy in Lansdale
recorded eight goals and six assists. Meyers is an
Exercise Science and Wellness major who came to MCCC from Springfield High School.
Meyers recorded seven goals and three assists this season.
On the Men’s Soccer team, forward Chakubuta Tuhenya of Oreland, midfielder Elias Gehman of Hatfield, and defender Aleksander Mularz of Norristown
were named First Team All-Conference, and goalkeeper Zachary Kovatch of Gilbertsville
was named Second Team All-Conference.
Freshman Tuhenya comes to MCCC from Springfield High School and is studying as a Business
Administration major Gehman is a Liberal Studies major from Dock Mennonite Academy, who led the team as sophomore captain.
Tuhenya and Gehman helped lead the Mustangs offense this season, with a combined 14
goals scored.
Freshman Business Administration major Mularz came to MCCC from Methacton High School.
Freshman Kovatch is a Management major who played soccer at Boyertown Area Senior
High School. On the defense, Mularz’s intensity helped stifle opponents’ offense,
while
Kovatch recorded four shutouts and led the Mustangs’ backline.
Women’s Volleyball had two student-athletes named to the All-EPAC First Team. Setter
Julia Kuneck, Philadelphia, and outside hitter Milijana Vukoslavovic of Serbia, Russia, led the Mustangs Volleyball team.
Kuneck played volleyball for John W. Hallahan Catholic Girl School before coming to
MCCC to study Fine Arts. In her freshman season Kuneck, was a star player for the
Mustangs with 337 assists and 69 solo blocks. Vukoslavovic is an exchange student from Serbia currently
studying Business Administration as a sophomore. Vukoslavovic was named a captain
after her outstanding performance last season and continued her record this season
with 285 kills and 457 digs, leading the Mustangs in both categories.
With Men’s Baseball, Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball and Soccer; Women’s Basketball, Soccer, Softball and Volleyball; and the new eSports Programs, MCCC’s Department of Athletics seeks to provide a quality competitive and respected athletic program that challenges student-athletes’ physical, mental and cognitive capacity. MCCC’s Department of Athletics is affiliated with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Region XIX and the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC).
