Montgomery County Community College’s Workforce Development Division will offer a non-credit, 10-week Manufacturing Technician course in February. The course offers participants looking for a career in manufacturing the basic tools and knowledge needed to succeed.
The course runs for 10 weeks from February 11 through April 17. Classes will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 6-9 p.m., in Parkhouse Hall at MCCC’s Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.
This course will prepare workers for manufacturing careers by covering topics such as workplace readiness, tool and machine identification, and quality control. Additionally, students will be given company tours of MCCC partners including: Globus Medical, Craft-Bilt, Cigas Machine and Knoll Furniture. Participants of the course will also gain an OSHA 10 certification.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the United States has 12.8 million manufacturing jobs, earning an average of $27.30 per hour. The need for skilled workers in the manufacturing industry is growing and courses at MCCC like Manufacturing Technician provide the training for a qualified and ambitious workforce.
