Eleanor M. Dezzi
Eleanor M. Dezzi has served as a member of the Montgomery County Community College Board of Trustees since 2015. Eleanor is a skilled and trusted consultant to the business and nonprofit sectors. She has spent the last 25 years of her career building The Dezzi Group, Ltd., a full-service government relations, lobbying and business consulting firm. Prior to founding her family-owned and operated business, she served as special assistant to the Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania, Mark Singel. Eleanor has also previously served as the director of the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods during the administration of Mayor W. Wilson Goode. She remains active in several civic and political causes to this day.
Eleanor also serves many community organizations and academic institutions. In addition to her position on Montgomery County Community College’s Board of Trustees, she sits on the President’s Council of Gwynedd Mercy University. Previously, she served as the secretary of Zoning Board of Adjustments in Philadelphia from January 2000 to January 2009. Eleanor spent over a decade as a member of the Philadelphia Archdiocesan School Board and was also elected a member of Justin Cardinal Rigali’s Blue Ribbon Commission to study the future of Catholic Education in Philadelphia. Eleanor is frequent a political commentator for NBC 10 in Philadelphia and a delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
Eleanor has been honored by several organizations. She has been included in the “Who’s Who in the Delaware Valley” and “Who’s Who of American Women.” She was also inducted into the West Catholic Hall of Fame for Government and Public Service in 1995. Eleanor is a graduate of West Catholic High School and Gwynedd Mercy University.
In her role on the board, Eleanor combines her knack for offering strategic, long-term counsel with her passion for education. Her experience guiding both nonprofits and businesses provide her with a unique perspective when presiding on The College’s Board. She was drawn to Montgomery County Community College’s beautiful suburban campus and the diversity and enthusiasm of its students.
Eleanor currently lives in Gladwyne with her husband. When she is not offering strategic counsel to educators, businesses, or community leaders, she enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren, visiting her home in Florida, and entertaining friends.
Her best advice for students is to “take advantage of every experience and offer of assistance that any faculty or staff member offers you at Montgomery County Community College. They are there to see you succeed.”
