MCCC hosts 58th Annual Student Art Exhibition

Montgomery County Community College invites the community to enjoy the vast showcase of student artwork currently on display now through April 30 at its Fine Arts Center Gallery of the Montco Cultural Center, located at 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.

Table of Temptation by Chyler HendersonMCCC’s 58th Annual Student Art Exhibition opened April 9 with an artist reception and awards ceremony. Students submitted 168 pieces of artwork for the exhibit, including oil paintings, ceramics, digital photography, pencil sketches, and other media.

“This exhibit showcases the incredible range of talent our students bring to the table, expressed through a variety of media,” said Patrick Rodgers, Galleries Director at Montgomery County Community College. “Each year, we’re continually impressed by the creativity and skill on display. We also encourage visitors to consider supporting our student artists by purchasing their work.”

This year’s juror was Brenda Macon, a professional artist from the Blue Bell area. She selected the first, second and third place winners, as well as the Juror’s Choice and Bella Shen and Lucie S. Lee Best in Show awards.

Best in Drawing:  

  • First place, “Kris” by Jacqueline Marsalona
  • Second place, “2 Crushed Cans” by Joes Aujard 
  • Third place, “Dream Circus” by Cloud Rusche

Best in Printmaking 

  • First place, “Tahiti Jungle” by Brayden Forcine
  • Second place, “The Storm” by Sierra "Sea" Ronollo 
  • Third place, “All That Jazz” by Morgan Kelliehan 

Best in Painting 

  • First place, “Knife By Two” by Simrin Hossain 
  • Second place, “Strawberry Shortcake” by Ben Markman
  • Third place, “Still Life” by Sadie Harvey

Best in Ceramics 

  • First place, “The Kiln God's Blessing” by Jacqueline Marsalona
  • Second place, “My 2ition” by Eamonn Brennan
  • Third place, “Cups of Whimsy and Wonder” by Erin Armstrong 

Best in Graphic Design 

  • First place, “Abstract Letterform Design” by Nicole Nevitt
  • Second place, “Bjork LP Set” by Julia Borzecki
  • Third place, “Moliere's Tartuffe” by Brooke Lion

Best in Photography  

  • First place, “Thunderclouds with Red Poppy” by Francesca Santini
  • Second place, “Dryad’s Dream” by Steven Schultz 
  • Third place, “Desperation” by Hailey Kutt

The Bella Shen and Lucie S. Lee Best in Show Art Award was presented to Hailey Kutt for “Television Still Life,” and the Juror’s Choice award was presented to Chyler Henderson for “Table of Temptation.”

MCCC’s Fine Arts galleries, located at both the Pottstown and Blue Bell campuses, are part of the Montco Cultural Center and host a variety of exhibitions featuring professional and student artists and artwork in an array of genres, as well as related activities, programs and lectures.
