The Immersion Essentials Science Camp provides hands-on introduction to biomedical
investigation. In this 5-day boot camp instructed by experts from the eCLOSE Institute,
campers will learn about concepts in cancer biology and nutrition and will practice
basic laboratory techniques by conducting hands-on research. Campers will also investigate
STEM-related careers by hearing from local experts.

Cost: $250 (scholarships are available) Ages: Campers entering grades 8-10 in Fall 2020 Dates: July 13-17 Location: Central Campus in Blue Bell Time: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

What will my child learn from this experience?
Campers will learn basic biomedical laboratory techniques and how cancer research
is performed.
Will my child be outside during the day?
No. The camp will be held in MCCC science labs.
Will you take any field trips?
No, there will not be any field trips during the week.
What should I pack for my child?
No items are required, however all campers should wear closed-toe shoes.
What time can I drop my child off? Do you have a late pickup policy?
The camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parents should arrange to drop off their
camper after 9 a.m. Please do not bring your child earlier as supervision will not
be provided. Arrangements should be made to pick up campers promptly at 3:30 p.m.
After 3:30 p.m., a late pick up fee may be assessed.
What is the camper-to-teacher ratio?
Two teachers will be with each group of 16 campers.
What qualifications do your teacher possess?
Each instructor is an experienced summer camp instructor. In addition, each has been
certified by the eCLOSE Institute to teach this camp.
