Dundore Society - Montgomery County Community College FoundationThe Dundore Society honors the legacy of Dwight A. Dundore, the first Foundation Board Chairperson upon its establishment in 1983. Dundore was a pillar of the Montgomery County Community College community as one of the founding members of the College in 1964. He also served numerous terms on the College's Board of Trustees including multiple terms as their Chairperson. In his time on the Foundation Board, he led the efforts to establish an entity that would provide sustainable growth to the College and financial support to students through philanthropy.

However, his service to the College and Foundation is matched only by his connection to and passion for the Institution's mission. Dundore, a Navy Veteran who served in the U.S. and the Pacific during World War II, went to work as an Engineering Assistant at PGW after his return from service. He was committed to furthering his education and simultaneously pursued his studies while working, eventually obtaining his bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering. His hard work and dedication would one day result in his appointment as Vice President of PGW. After his retirement from PGW, he continued his work with the College while also serving as Director of the Department of Commerce and Development for Montgomery County. In this role, he initiated a program between the College five vocational-technical schools in the county to increase the number of educated laborers, a deficit that hurt the County's development and prosperity. As a veteran, working student, and workforce development advocate, Dwight Dundore embodied the vision and mission that drove, and continues to drive, the efforts of the College and the Foundation.

In celebration of Dundore's contributions to this Institution, the Dundore Society of the Montgomery County Community College Foundation brings together former Foundation Board Members who, like Dundore, wish to help the College and its students thrive long beyond their previous tenures. As such, the Dundore Society will serve as a distinguished group that supports the efforts of the Foundation Board by providing insights and helping build philanthropic relationships throughout the community, all while connecting with fellow champions of the Foundation throughout its nearly 40 year history.
