The Liberal Arts are the foundation of higher education.

The Liberal Arts are the foundation of higher education and provide skills to students that all employers seek. Our programs in Fine Arts, Music, Theatre Arts, Dance, Sound Recording Technology, and Mass Media Studies and Production provide hands-on opportunities for students to express their creativity, work collaboratively, engage in critical analysis, and master technical competencies necessary for careers in the arts.  Our very popular Liberal Studies major offers students the opportunity to explore a vast array of academic subjects to discover their individual interests and professional pursuits; while our History, Anthropology, Sociology, and Political Science classes develop historical inquiry, research, argument, and analysis skills employed in the examination of past and recent historical, societal, and geopolitical trends. Liberal Arts also houses General Education courses (including English, Philosophy, Communication, First Year Experience, and World Languages) that teach students to communicate effectively in writing and speech; to solve problems uses logic, critical study, and innovative thinking; to explore diverse global perspective and cultural values; and to engage in ethical decision-making and principled practices.

As an academic division, we encourage intellectual curiosity, foster cultural understanding, and promote a love for life-long learning. Our dedicated faculty generously share their scholarly expertise and teaching talents, crafting an engaging and inclusive educational experience for all students. We celebrate creativity, imagination, and excellence through our student art exhibitions, creative writing contests, dance ensembles, music showcases, sound recording masterclasses, film festivals, theater productions, and our nationally recognized Art and Literature magazine. These unique, artistic experiences not only provide our students with real-world opportunities to share their passions and talents, but also enrich our campuses and communities with the joys and beauty of the arts.

There are courses for everyone in the Liberal Arts, so learn adventurously, express your uniqueness, follow your dreams, and thrive in the Liberal Arts.
