Last year, Montgomery County Community College fine arts faculty exhibited their creations in an exhibition at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Now, MCCC is pleased to share an exhibition of works by University of the Arts faculty from August 30 through October 14 at the MCCC’s Fine Arts Gallery, 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell, Pa.
The exhibition will showcase the work of more than 30 faculty from the University of the Arts including painting, photography, illustration, sculpture, film, and much more. It includes several large format pieces and the use of innovative materials, according to MCCC Galleries Director Patrick Rodgers.
“I’m blown away by the pieces they sent,” Rodgers said. “Many of these are works that you can lose yourself in thinking about the craft, the detail, the ideas they contain. UArts has been phenomenal to work with and their faculty have sent some real surprises our way. It’s a really fun exhibition.”
Several MCCC faculty participated in last year’s exhibition at the University of the Arts, and the faculties of both institutions are very familiar with each other’s work.
“There exhibitions are not just about sharing works of art, it’s about sharing ideas among two very strong art faculties,” Rodgers said.
A meet-the-artists reception will be held September 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.
