Hands on learning takes place in state-of-the-art research laboratories at the College’s Advanced Technology Center in Blue Bell. This program is connected to the Greater Philadelphia marketplace, home to more than 100 biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Graduates are employed at various levels in biomedical research and the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or food industries. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, jobs in this field will grow by 10 percent through 2022. Current median salaries start at $39,750 nationally. Regionally, it’s higher: about $42,000 for biological technicians with bachelor’s degrees. The Biotechnology AAS is appropriate to enter the workforce but with appropriate course selection, it can be a transfer option.
