The Chronicle 2009

Montgomery County Community College has been recognized by the Chronicle of Higher Education on its list of “2009 Great Colleges to Work For.” The program is designed to recognize model institutions while compiling detailed benchmarking data about industry trends. The list is determined by the results of two surveys that were administered by the Chronicle’s program in partnership with ModernThink, LLC.

“Building a model and modern workplace is one of six facets outlined in the College’s current strategic plan,” explains Dr. Karen A. Stout, President. “We are committed to offering employees the tools, professional development opportunities and organizational climate that supports excellence and satisfaction in recognition that the success of our students depends on employees having a supportive work environment.”

The Great Colleges to Work For program recognizes institutions for best practices and policies in 26 categories for four-year colleges and 15 categories for community colleges. Within those categories, colleges are classified based on enrollment. Montgomery County Community College placed second in the nation among community colleges in the categories of “Health Insurance” and “Confidence in Senior Leadership,” and it placed third in the category of “403b or 401k.”
