Emergency Closing Information

When inclement weather or an emergency forces closure of the College or cancellation/delayed start of classes, announcements will be made using the e2Campus text message and email system, the College’s website, regional television and radio stations, and social media. Voice messages will also be placed on the main College phone numbers (215-641-6300 for Central Campus and Culinary Arts Institute and 610-718-1800 for West Campus).

Message Definitions

Day Classes – Day classes are those that begin BEFORE 3:30 p.m.
Evening Classes – Evening classes are those that begin AT or AFTER 3:30 p.m.

For Example: If your class runs from 3-5 p.m., it is a day class. If your class runs from 4-6 p.m., it is an evening class.

Closed -- Unless otherwise specified, a closed message refers to all campuses and learning locations, including the Culinary Arts Institute in Lansdale and the Municipal Police Academy in Conshohocken. Students enrolled in online classes through the Virtual Campus are still accountable for their coursework as outlined in the course syllabus.

Delayed Opening – If a decision is made to open the College late, the initial text message and external TV and radio notifications will provide that opening time.

For Example: As a result of icy road conditions, MCCC will open at 10 a.m. on Thurs 1/28.

Additional clarification on class start times will be provided on social media and other messaging platforms whenever possible.

This means if your class is normally scheduled to run from 9:30-11 a.m., your class will begin at 10 a.m. and will end at its normal time.  If your class is normally scheduled to run from 8-9:30 a.m., that class is canceled.

Early Dismissal – If a decision is made to close the College early, the initial text message and external TV and radio notifications will provide that closing time.

For Example: In anticipation of heavy snow, MCCC will close at 4 p.m. on Thurs 1/28.

This means if your class is normally scheduled to run from 3-5 p.m., your class will begin at its normal time and end at 4 p.m.  If your class is normally scheduled to begin any time after 4 p.m., that class is canceled.

Campus / Location Specific – If a decision is made to close or delay only one campus or learning location, the initial text message will specify that information. In this case, messaging applies only to the specified location, and the remaining College campuses/locations remain open and operating on a normal schedule.

For Example: As a result of heavy rain & flooding, West Campus will close at 3 p.m. on Wed 1/27.

Additional clarification will be provided on social media and other messaging platforms whenever possible.

For Example:  As a result of heavy rain & flooding, the College’s West Campus in Pottstown will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27. The College’s Central Campus, Culinary Arts Institute and Municipal Police Academy remain open and operating on a normal schedule.

Campus Shuttle – Individuals who ride the Campus Shuttle are encouraged to sign up for special shuttle text alerts through e2Campus. In the event of delays and closings, the College will send shuttle-specific information and updates to this group.
